Expressive Arts

Born in Richmond, Virginia, Jovan Scott is a self-taught mixed-media artist driven by instinct and spontaneity. His abstract art emerges through unplanned execution, allowing emotion and impulse to shape every gesture. Color is chosen intuitively, responding to the energy of the moment rather than any predetermined plan. His approach reflects the emotional abstraction of Kandinsky, Duchamp’s embrace of chance, Pollock’s gestural freedom, and Beckley’s layered contemporary art textures. Together, these influences illuminate Jovan’s commitment to authenticity, immediacy, and raw creative expression.
