These are a series of paintings I was working on in 2024. All done while experimenting with new techniques. In some I wanted to incorporate borders to my canvases to hold the image. I wanted to try using different textures. Towards the end I was inspired by an image taken by VA photographer Dante Washington. Which lead me to a new use of color and incorporating drawings of live figures, that I plan to explore more.

Blue Lotus
This was the first in this series. I wanted to use my knowledge of faux techniques to create the background. Then I used stencils to create the raised golden lotus and other embellishments.

Marblelously Green
This was another faux marble background, this time in green. I used a different texture technique to create a bronze relief. Which made the filigree break in a way that I felt lends fragility to the piece.

Life is Golden
This piece was for my admiration for graffiti art. I wanted to create a broken brick wall effect and then added different graffiti elements.

Slow Reveal
In keeping with adding texture to the bordered series, I chose to use the technique of plastering cloth. I wanted to create the idea of revealing another member of the series.

Moment of Relaxation
I used this piece to create a beach scene. The texture of the waves and sand add immersion to the piece.

Clockwork Mechanism
The clock gears are revealed behind the messy black wall.
